We Can Take This Nation Back For God

Many Christians are saying that all is lost, and that God cannot save this nation. Yet, how many times in the Bible did God’s people cry out to Him and He delivered them? Some Christians claim that God is judging our nation, yet Jesus repeatedly said that He did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He did not call us to give up, but to pray always and not lose heart. Now is the time for God’s people to take a stand for Him and make their voices heard at the polls. I pray this article encourages you to get out the vote!

If American Christians don’t vote to place godly people in authority, who will that leave in authority? Yes, ungodly people.

We cry out to God to revive our nation when He has commissioned us to go and make disciples of all nations. The Bible shows us that at times, this can involve confronting political leaders. Unfortunately, the god of this world, the devil, has convinced most churches to remain silent about politics.

God in politics: He Called Joseph to Rule over Egypt

Daniel Webster defined politics in his 1828 dictionary as “that part of ethics which consists in the regulation and government of a nation or state, for the preservation of its safety, peace and prosperity; comprehending … the protection of its citizens in their rights, with the preservation and improvement of their morals.” Before and after our nation’s founding, churches were very involved in politics, founding schools and hospitals and supporting ethical men of character for government leadership.

If we read the Bible, we can see that God is deeply concerned with politics. He told Moses to go to Pharaoh and say, “Let my people go!” He commanded Joshua to conquer the promised land. The Lord called men of God to judge Israel and commanded Samuel to anoint two consecutive kings.

God in Politics: He sent Moses to Pharaoh

God told Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem’s defensive wall. He commanded Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and other prophets to speak before kings—to interfere in politics for the people’s good. He placed Daniel in a position of political power.

God’s prophets have prophesied for millennia about the coming ruler of all nations. Jesus Christ will reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years as King of kings and Lord of lords. He will choose saints to rule under him as kings and lords in the first resurrection. (Revelation 20:6)

God in Politics: He told Samuel to Anoint David King

Today, many American Christians are indifferent to God’s providence in our nation’s founding. If church leaders in the 1700s didn’t speak about politics, we would most likely still have British soldiers quartered in our homes, eating our food and killing people without consequence.

The Lord loves freedom, declaring the truth will set us free. (John 8:32) God’s enemy, the devil, relentlessly devises deceptions to enslave us in the bandage of sin. Many church leaders regard their tax exemption status more highly than their duty before God to warn their flocks about the wicked who seek to take their freedoms and control every aspect of their lives.

In 1962, political leaders took prayer out of the schools. In 1963, they took the Bible out of schools. They made it legal to murder unborn babies in 1973, whom God knew from the womb with purposes and gifts for mankind. In 2015, God’s sacred institution of marriage between one man and one woman was redefined, contrary to God’s Word. In 2020, political leaders closed churches, stifling our God-given freedom to worship. We forsook the assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25), obeying the government rather than God.

God in Politics: He made Daniel a high official under three kings.

Today, God’s “little ones” are under attack. We send our children to public schools who lie to us, saying that it is still illegal to pray, read the Bible, or post the Ten Commandments when the U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled to the contrary.

Gender Sexual Alliance clubs in our government schools teach children to lie to their parents and to instead trust adults lost in perversity. Intellectually incapable of making adult decisions, children are confused and deceived into believing that, in the beginning, God did not make them male and female. Children are persuaded to take puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and succumb to barbaric double mastectomies and castration.

What a state of affairs—which is politics! How can we, as Christians, forsake our political duty to preserve the “safety, peace, and prosperity” of our communities and “the protection of … citizens in their rights, with the preservation and improvement of their morals?”

Fortunately, God’s people are beginning to wake up. Those with eyes to see can recognize His providence in political affairs—removing wicked leaders, saving more and more of the unborn, and preserving good leaders for His purposes.

God in Politics: He made Esther queen to save the Jews

God promises, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) God is talking about His people, not the unbelievers. We can turn from the evil of fearing man more than God, from remaining silent when our neighbors are lied to, from not protecting our children—and the list goes on. God lays it all at the feet of His people. If we turn back to Him, He will surely forgive our sin and heal our land.

We have been born for such a time as this. God is awakening His people and bringing salvation to thousands. There is no greater time to be alive than now. We can open our Bibles and see how God is deeply involved in the affairs of mankind—in politics—and how He wants us to love what He loves and do what He commands.

We can seek out Christian voter guides and vote biblically. We can make our voices heard at the polls to elect godly leaders for our communities, state, and nation. We can ask our dear Lord Jesus what He wants us to do to be a part of His great work of reclaiming this nation for Himself.

Now is not the time to throw up our hands in surrender. We can turn our ears toward God and His Word and refuse to be deceived by the media’s ten-spy network. (Numbers 13) All is not lost. With God all things are possible, for no Word of God is without power. We can go and make disciples of all nations—especially ours—who will learn the truth, and the truth will make them free.
